Bay Medical Hospital (with the best cardiac familities and doctors between Pensacola and Tallahassee, Florida)is beginning to recover from Hurricane Michael. Based on the damage to the hospital, 630 employees were laid off. The Hospital is now planning to fill at least 300 positions in the near future as the hospital expands.
The Hospital has already reopened 75 beds, eight operating rooms and five cardiac catherization labs.
The biggest problem is that long-term housing is very scarce in the area due to the storm damage. Many homes were destroyed and the repairs are just now beginning to happen.
According to Heath Evans, president of Bay Medical, the plan is to hire 300 people as the hospital expands services and adds beds in the coming months. He indicated there are 60 positions they are currently recruiting for and operatins will increase to 144 beds which should be done well before the end of the year.
