Did you know? During the 1940’s the Coast Guard had beach patrols along the beach at Panama City Beach. According to information at the Man in the Sea Museum, WWII German u-boats surfaced off Panama City Beach so their crews could sneak ashore to drink beer in local bars. As a result, a u-boat watch patrol was created. The beach patrol was stationed at Philips Inlet in a two story building where Pinnacle Port is now. Horses were stabled on the first floor and personnel above. The photo is of one of the beach patrols.
